PRECAUTIONS
- Long-term continuous topical therapy with EFFIGENTA should be avoided.
- Due to the content of corticosteroid, EFFIGENTA should be used with care near the eyes. Avoid getting EFFIGENTA into the eyes.
- Due to the content of corticosteroid having immunosuppressant effect, EFFIGENTA may be associated with increased susceptibility to infection, aggravation of existing infection, and activation of latent infection. It is advised to switch to systemic treatment if infection cannot be controlled with topical treatment.
- Due to the content of betamethasone Dipropionate, prolonged topical use of EFFIGENTA may cause skin atrophy.
- Instruct patients not to smoke or go near naked flames - risk of severe burns. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings etc.) that has been in contact with this product burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard.
- A thin film of Effigenta cream or ointment should be applied to cover completely the affected area twice daily, in the morning and at night.
- Frequency of application should be determined by the physician according to the severity of the condition.
- For some patients, adequate maintenance therapy may be achieved with less frequent application.
Duration of therapy varies depending upon the extent and location of disease and patient response. However, if clinical improvement is not achieved by three to four weeks, diagnosis should be reviewed.
